Try OxyGeneo For Next Level Anti Aging Facial

Oxygen is not just a key component of life. It’s also vital to healthy, younger-looking, beautiful skin. Indeed, Oxygen Facials emerged in the early 2000’s as a popular treatment for anti-aging and skin brightening. And while oxygen facials remain popular, OxyGeneo is a new concept that takes the oxygen facial to an entirely new level for an anti aging facial in Springfield Missouri.

Oxygen vs. OxyGeneo

Standard oxygen facials work by pushing oxygen into your skin. This can sometimes lead to redness and sensitivity, which is not ideal. OxyGeneo works differently, it spurs oxygenation from the inside out.

In more scientific terms, an OxyGeneo treatment triggers the Bohr Effect, which refers to changes in blood pH that then trigger an oxygen release to the surface of the skin. The result of this is increased blood flow, younger, healthier looking skin.

The OxyGeneo Super Facial

Before your facial begins, our esthetician will select the best OxyGeneo treatment for your skin and desired outcome—there are a few types—Geneo Revive Red Algae, Geneo Illuminate Vitamin C, and the brand new Geneo Balance Charcoal.

The Revive Red Algae facial treats signs of aging, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, and brightens dull skin. The Illuminate Vitamin facial helps unify skin tone, improve pigmentation, and rejuvenates the skin.

The latest OxyGeneo facial treatment is designed for oily skin. This Balance Charcoal facial purifies and soothes oily skin, which helps improve your overall skin texture and appearance. Each of these treatment options include antioxidants, peptides, and vitamins in addition to their outcome-specific ingredients dedicated to making your skin look its best.

No matter the specific treatment option you select, the OxyGeneo Facial is comprised of three steps, giving you the exfoliation benefits of microdermabrasion, deep facial rejuvenation, and revitalization.

Step 1: Exfoliation

Similar to a gentle microdermabrasion, the OxyGeneo exfoliation removes the top layer of dead skin cells. This layer can prevent the absorption of all the good stuff—like nutrients and antioxidants—and is an essential part of the OxyGeneo anti aging facial.

Step 2: Skin Rejuvenation

Also called dermal infusion, this step infuses your skin with active ingredients like hyaluronic acid, peptides, and antioxidants. This is a gentle, relaxing massage using the OxyGeneo device and massage tip to go over all areas of your skin.

Step 3: Ultrasound for Deep Penetration

To ensure that all of the active ingredients in your treatment are well and truly absorbed into your skin, the OxyGeneo treatment is finished with the use of a gentle ultrasound to ensure deep penetration of antioxidants, peptides, and vitamins in all areas of your face.

OxyGeneo Results

When your OxyGeneo facial is complete, you will see immediate results. And these results go beyond surface level. Because the OxyGeneo process works to harness your body’s own natural mechanisms for revitalization, your results will be more noticeable and longer lasting than traditional or oxygen facials. Some benefits you can expect to see after your OxyGeneo facial include: plumper skin, more hydrated skin, brighter skin, smaller pores, reduced hyperpigmentation, and improved skin texture.

Over time, regular OxyGeneo facials can lead to improved elasticity, reduced acne, and age spots. Perhaps the best part of these Super Facials is that they are great for all skin types and sensitivity levels. It’s a non-irritating, extremely hydrating facial.

This month at Advanced Laser Clinic, book your OxyGeneo Facial with Cynthia and save $10. Call us today at 417-883-5400 to book your free consultation or to book your OxyGeneo facial with Cynthia.

Reduce Acne, Fine Lines and Wrinkles in Springfield Missouri with LightStim®

Reduce Acne, Fine Lines and Wrinkles in Springfield Missouri with LightStim

Reduce Acne, Fine Lines and Wrinkles with LightStim®

Developed by NASA and backed by clinical studies, LED light therapy—specifically LightStim®—could be a serious game changer for you.

LED, or Light Emitting Diode, light utilizes colored lights to penetrate your skin at varying wavelengths. To our skin, light is energy. That energy is used by our bodies to regenerate cells, produce useful substances like collagen and elastin, boost circulation, and speed up tissue repair.

LED lights release this energy as photons, which emit different wavelengths corresponding to different colors. With the help of these wavelengths, LightStim® treatments can reduce signs of aging using red light or treat acne with blue light.

How Does LightStim® Work?

Using the LightStim® Pro Panel, red or blue light is directed at your skin for up to 30 minutes. During this time the light penetrates your skin tissue to stimulate the basic energy processes in the cell’s mitochondria. This is important because this is what speeds up the rate of cell reproduction.

In addition to your in-office LightStim® session, we offer the at-home device for purchase. It’s important to continue your LightStim® treatment at home on a daily basis in order to see results. Clinical trials have shown that daily use of the LightStim® device for 3 minutes per area results in a significant lessening of fine lines and wrinkles.

Red or Blue LED Light?

In determining which color of LED light is right for your skin, it’s important to identify both the current state of your skin and your ultimate goal.

Is anti-aging your primary concern? If so, you’ll want red light. Red light stimulates collagen and this helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. Red light also helps reduce inflammation and redness, shrinks the appearance of pores, and accelerates skin repair. Red light LED treatment can also be used to treat Rosacea.

Are you suffering from acne flareups? If so, blue will be the right light for you. Blue light kills bacteria, specifically the acne-causing Propionibacterium. It also helps reduce oil production and prevent future breakouts.

While red and blue are the most popular types of LED light therapy, Infrared LED LightStim® therapy can be used to relieve pain. The infrared light works to increase circulation as well as the body’s temperature for temporary relief of minor joint and muscle pain, minor arthritic pain, and muscle spasms.

Is LightStim® Safe?

The short answer is: Yes.

LightStim® devices have been cleared by the FDA. LED light therapy in general has been shown in multiple clinical trials to be effective and safe. LED lights contain no UV light (the skin-cancer causing kind of light). No serious side effects to using LED light therapy have been identified. What’s more, this is proving an effective alternative for people who can’t use harsh acne treatments or who don’t want to undergo invasive or semi-invasive anti-aging procedures.

What Will my LightStim® Results Be?

Everyone’s skin is different, so results will vary from individual to individual. But, generally speaking, with in-office treatments and continued at-home therapy with the LightStim® home therapy device, you can expect to start seeing lasting results in about 2 months. LightStim® and LED light therapy does not provide instantaneous results, rather it is designed as an ongoing treatment.

If you’d like to learn more about the benefits of LightStim® or schedule an appointment for a LightStim® treatment in Springfield, Missouri, give us a call at (417) 883-5400.

Benefits of Derma Roller For Micro Needling in Springfield Missouri

Benefits of Derma Roller For Micro Needling in Springfield Missouri

Benefits of Using A Derma Roller For Micro Needling

While a derma roller might look a little intimidating, it’s actually quite helpful and not painful when used properly. There are many benefits when you follow a consistent derma rolling regimen, which is why it’s one of the hottest skin-health practices today.

Derma Rolling is also known as collagen induction therapy, or CIT. A derma roller is a handheld roller-device with microneedles. Home rollers range in length from .2 to .5mm. You simply roll the device over your skin to create tiny punctures which trigger skin repair, leading to the creation of new collagen.

Collagen is the part of the connective tissue that helps in firmness, strength, suppleness, and elasticity in skin. Therefore, the short-term wounding of the skin triggers the production of a protein that will actually, in turn, strengthen the skin to a healthier level than before.

Derma rolling benefits aren’t just gained in the skin needling and resulting repair of the skin. It is also capable of exposing deeper layers of your skin to the benefits of various products, leading to greater effectiveness. Using a home derma roller can increase product uptake from 10% to up to 70%. Whether you suffer from dry skin, weak skin, scarring or aged-looking skin, it’s hard to imagine a skin ailment that you can’t improve via derma rolling.

Originally, this technique was exclusive to dermatologists, but now that there are at-home versions, it’s important to know exactly how it works. Some of the top benefits of derma rolling include:

Fights Premature Aging

An effective treatment for wrinkles, derma rolling has the capability to prevent and treat premature aging of the skin via triggering of collagen and elastin growth. It thickens, repairs, strengthens and increases the elasticity of skin. Pair this with our Environ Frown Serum for maximum absorption into those fine lines.

Treats Hyperpigmentation

A condition in which parts of the skin become darker in color than the surrounding skin, hyperpigmentation is highly noticeable and can make those suffering from it feel self-conscious and insecure. Luckily for those of us unfortunate enough to be dealing with hyperpigmentation, there is derma rolling. By helping to shed the topmost layer of skin that produces melanocyte, derma rolling can diminish the effects of, and help lighten hyperpigmentation. A perfect pairing for this would be our Environ Mela-Fade Serum System.

Reduces Pore Size

Clogged and large pores are not only unattractive, they can lead to great problems such as an increasingly acne-damaged layer of skin, blackheads, oily skin, and more. Often located on the nose and around the cheeks, derma rolling can help to reduce the size of enlarged pores by, again, producing collagen, as well as by thickening the epidermis. Using Environ’s A, C, E oil is a great compliment to this.

If you'd like to learn more about the benefits of using a derma roller at home or schedule an appointment for micro needling in Springfield Missouri, give us a call at (417) 883-5400.

Get Glowing With Back-to-School Specials on Skin Care in Springfield Missouri

Our August 2019 Special on Microdermabrasion in Springfield Missouri

Get Glowing With Back-to-School Specials on Skin Care

Ready or not, back-to-school season is just around the corner. Maybe you’re the one heading back for another year of reading, writing, and arithmetic – or maybe you’re helping your teenager prep for their first year of high school. Either way, you know that great skin can have a major impact on your confidence, especially as you enter a new year with new classmates, new teachers and new goals to pursue.

That’s why we’re offering discounts on three great back-to-school treatments for skin care in Springfield Missouri throughout the month of August: facials, acne peels, and microdermabrasion. Let’s get glowing!

New to the skincare game? A facial can be a great way to slough off summer sun damage and start the new school year with a fresh face. Facials are gentle, painless procedures, involving a deep pore cleansing session and an invigorating facial massage and steam bath. We end each facial with a serious dose of vitamin A, which helps combat breakouts, dryness and dull skin.

After a facial, your skin will feel plumper, more hydrated and clearer – just in time for the new school year. Facials don’t require much downtime. You may experience slight redness after the treatment, but that should fade within 24 hours. Did someone say picture day?

Acne Peel Treatments

If you’re prone to breakouts, you know they can make it hard to put your best face forward. A chemical peel is one way to help treat and prevent breakouts before the start of the new school year. During a chemical peel, we’ll apply a mild acid to the skin, which helps restore and rejuvenate the skin’s surface.

The acid used in chemical peels helps your skin turn over dead skin cells more effectively, creating a fresh appearance and reducing the impact of acne. Over time, repeated chemical peels can greatly reduce the appearance of acne and acne scars, especially deeper, more cystic blemishes. Although chemical peels might sound intimidating, they’re actually one of our mildest treatments.

Microdermabrasion Treatments

If you struggle with cystic acne or acne scarring, microdermabrasion can be a great way to freshen up your skin this year. Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical exfoliating procedure that helps reduce scarring in the skin by applying a spray of microcrystals to your skin’s outermost layer. The crystals clear the dead skin cells, revealing the healthy-looking skin underneath.

Microdermabrasion treatments also encourage the production of new skin cells, helping to replace the scarred portions of your skin. However, if you’re struggling with deep acne scars, microdermabrasion may not be the best fit for you. Our experts can help recommend another treatment if that’s the case.

The best part? Like facials and chemical peels, microdermabrasion treatments are non-invasive, offering nearly immediate results with little to no side effects or downtime. That means you can schedule your treatment just a few days before heading back to school. You’ll be glowing by the time that first bell rings.

New school year, new you! Put your best face forward with Advanced Laser Clinic’s back-to-school skincare specials this August. Not sure which treatment you should schedule? Our experts can work with you to determine which treatments would be best for your specific skin type and skincare woes. We can also work with you to establish an ongoing treatment plan for more serious skin woes.

If you want to learn more about chemical peels, facials or microdermabrasion, come pay us a visit at Advanced Laser Clinic. Give us a call at 417-883-5400 to set up an appointment. We look forward to meeting you.

Glo Skin Cosmetics Combat Hormonal Acne in Springfield Missouri

Glo Skin Cosmetics Combat Hormonal Acne in Springfield Missouri

Glo Skin Cosmetics Combat Hormonal Acne

Getting ready to head back to school? Chances are you've already hit the back-to-school sales to grab a gaggle of new supplies. Now, you just have to figure out how to make a great impression on the first day of a new school year. While a great new outfit can work wonders, struggling with acne and blackheads can take a huge toll on your confidence.

Covering up blemishes with globs of low-quality makeup can make acne even worse. So, what do you do if a breakout strikes on the first day of school? With Glo Skin Beauty mineral makeup products, you can cover up blemishes while healing your hormonal acne in Springfield Missouri at the same time.

Makeup That Works for You

It’s tempting to slather on foundation and concealer to cover up a tricky blemish. Unfortunately, in the end, a lot of drugstore makeup products clog pores, making blemishes a lot worse. At Advanced Laser Clinic, we believe that makeup should be a core part of skincare, allowing your natural beauty to shine through without clogging pores.

That’s where Glo Skin Beauty products come in. The Glo Skin cosmetic line is mineral-based, created using a triple-milled process and ultra-fine minerals. Those minerals apply seamlessly, giving you full coverage without clogging your pores or creating the unpleasant cakey effect of some liquid foundations.

Antioxidants for Healthy, Glowing Skin

So, how do Glo Skin cosmetics actually help your skin? Each of these mineral makeup products is created using a combination of active ingredients including Vitamins A, C, and E, as well as Green Tea Extract. That’s a powerful antioxidant combination that addresses a variety of common skin issues like dullness, dryness, and flakiness. All Glo Skin Beauty products are also talc-free, offering silky coverage while avoiding the unpleasant chalky look of some powder foundations.

Paraben-Free Coverage

All-natural skincare is definitely a buzzword these days – but how do you know which products are actually good for your skin and the Earth? Between non-GMO, vegan and gluten-free formulas, it can be hard to know which products to choose. Fortunately, Glo Skin Beauty prioritizes eco-friendliness by eliminating parabens.

Parabens are a pretty tricky figure in the skincare industry. Basically, they’re synthetic preservatives that may lead to a wide variety of health issues including breast cancer. Parabens have also been proven to negatively affect wildlife, so Glo eliminated them entirely.

Another reason you can feel great about buying from Glo: It’s a PETA-approved brand offering cruelty-free products that are never tested on animals.

Find Your Perfect Shade

Now, for the fun part: finding your perfect Glo Skin foundation shade. Each of Glo’s products is created with the idea that makeup is an extension of skincare – which means you won’t find a one-size-fits-all approach with this brand.

Glo has several different kinds of products, so if you’re not sure which products are a good fit for your skin type, feel free to call Advanced Laser Clinic today to schedule a color matching consult.

Don’t let hormonal acne impact your back-to-school aesthetic. Add Glo Skin cosmetics to your back-to-school shopping list and come pay us a visit at Advanced Laser Clinic. We have a wide selection of Glo powders and concealers, and we’d love to help you improve your skincare regimen by upgrading your makeup routine.

Give us a call at 417-883-5400 to schedule a free color matching consult so we can connect you with your perfect foundation shade. We look forward to meeting you.

Is An IPL Photofacial in Springfield Missouri Right For You?

Is An IPL Photofacial in Springfield Missouri Right-For You

Is An IPL Photofacial Right For You?

Whether you’re a reformed sunbather or a disciplined skincare guru, one thing is certain: You’re likely to experience some skin damage as you get older. Sun damage, lifestyle choices and heredity can all impact our skin as we age. Fortunately, a lot of that damage is reversible with the wide variety of skincare treatments on today’s market.

One of the procedures that we offer minimizes a variety of pigmentation issues: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatments. This non-invasive, quick procedure involves intense pulses of light, which penetrate deep into the skin to resolve pigmentation issues. Of course, like any skincare treatment, there are pros and cons to IPL. Read on to find out if an IPL photofacial in Springfield Missouri is right for you.

IPL Treatments Provide Serious Results

An IPL photofacial provides gradual skin improvement and excellent long-term results. While the healing process can take up to three weeks, you’ll notice a much clearer, younger-looking complexion after your skin heals. Depending on the severity of your skin concern, you may require multiple treatments – however, you should notice reduced redness, minimized capillaries, and smaller pores after just one treatment.

Keep in mind that, after the procedure, you’ll see signs of sun damage and age spots temporarily darken. It’s nothing to worry about – over the course of the next several weeks, those darkened spots will fade and flake off as impurities come to the surface.

IPL Treatments Are Less Invasive Than Laser Treatments

An IPL photofacial, which may feel similar to a laser procedure, targets the surface of your skin to effectively eliminate redness, brown spots, rosacea and more. While IPL treatments are a variation of laser treatments, there are several key differences.

For example, while a laser focuses just one wavelength of light at your skin, IPL releases many different wavelengths of light, almost like a photo flash. IPL light is also more scattered and less focused than a laser, allowing it to penetrate down to the second layer of your skin without harming the top layer.

Overall, IPL is less invasive than a laser treatment, causing less damage to your skin. While the procedure is slightly less invasive, you still need to take measures to prepare your skin before your appointment. Our skincare specialists recommend that you avoid certain activities for two weeks prior to your procedure:

  • Sun exposure or tanning beds
  • Waxing
  • Chemical peels
  • Injectables or fillers
  • Drugs like aspirin or ibuprofen
  • Skincare products containing vitamin A (RetinA or glycolic acid, for example)

IPL Treatments Aren’t for Everyone

IPL treatments are great for clients with hyperpigmentation concerns like sun spots or age spots. It’s also important to note that IPL treatments aren’t just for the face – you can use the treatment for sun-damaged body regions like the arms and chest. IPL is also great for the following skin issues:

  • Irregular skin pigmentation resulting from hormonal factors, smoking or alcohol use
  • Wrinkles, fine lines and age spots
  • Melasma
  • Dilated blood vessels
  • Broken capillaries

However, while you can use IPL anywhere on your body, but it may not work as well on uneven areas. IPL also isn’t often recommended for people who tend to get thick, raised keloid scars or who have darker skin tones. Not sure if IPL is right for you? Let our skincare specialists know if you have any skin conditions that might affect healing after your treatment, such as inflammatory acne or eczema.

Ready to see how IPL can transform your skin? Give Advanced Laser Clinic a call at 417-883-5400 to set up an appointment. If you mention this blog post, you’ll receive $50 off your treatment. Our certified technicians will assess your individual skincare needs and customize our IPL device to give you optimal results.

Should You Choose Dysport or Botox in Springfield Missouri?

Should You Choose Dysport or Botox

Living a full life means expressing yourself – laughing, frowning and occasionally wrinkling your nose in confusion. As we get older and our skin loses elasticity, all of those expressions can deepen into permanent facial lines. While a few laugh lines here and there can be a reminder of great memories, deeper lines – between the eyebrows, for example – can give us a harsh or angry appearance.

So, what’s the best way to treat these stubborn lines? In the past, there weren’t a lot of options to address signs of aging. Patients were either stuck plastering on heavy makeup or undergoing an invasive surgical facelift. Now, there are a wide variety of non-surgical anti-aging treatments on the market, including injectables.

When most people hear about injectables, they immediately think of Botox in Springfield Missouri. However, at Advanced Laser Clinic, we’re partial to another injectible: Dysport.

Am I a Good Candidate for Injectables?

Whether used alone or alongside fillers, injectable treatments offer a wide variety of cosmetic benefits:

  • Restoring your skin’s full, youthful appearance
  • Plumping any hollow or gaunt facial features
  • Eliminating wrinkles, folds, creases and fine lines
  • Lifting any drooping, sagging features

If you’re ready to address one or all of these issues, you’re a great candidate for injectables. Injectables are extremely safe when administered by our trained professionals. The only individuals who should not have injectable treatments are pregnant or breastfeeding mothers and anyone who may have been diagnosed with a neuromuscular disease.

Botox and Dysport procedures are extremely similar in nature. During each procedure, tiny amounts of the respective products are injected directly into the facial muscles underlying the frown lines. Both treatments are speedy, with three to five barely perceptible injections in problem areas. Both treatments typically take between 10 and 20 minutes, meaning you can pop in for a treatment during your lunch hour and get back to living your life.

While both Botox and Dysport procedures are extremely safe, there have been cases of facial paralysis and spasms reported after Botox treatments. Although these side effects are extremely rare, they’re certainly something to consider.

Neither Dysport nor Botox procedures require recovery time. You can get right back to living your life after having either procedure, and you shouldn’t experience any pain or swelling. Shortly after having a procedure, you’ll feel your affected facial muscles gradually relax until you’re unable to contract your frown muscles. Don’t worry: You’ll still be able to blink and raise your eyebrows, so your expression will look completely natural.

Results from both Botox and Dysport treatments typically last between three and four months, although some Botox treatments can last upward of six months. The major difference lies in how quickly you’ll see results. Dysport can start taking effect after about 24 hours, while Botox results often take at least a few days to show up.

This is because Dysport is composed of smaller molecules than the Botox formula, which allows Dysport to spread faster than Botox. You may also need fewer repeat treatments after Dysport. Many patients find that, after several treatments, they have “unlearned” the habit of frowning or squinting that originally led to the development of the lines.

Since insurance doesn’t cover cosmetic injections, the cost is another important factor. Dysport is, on average, less expensive than Botox, but every little bit helps – which is why we’re pleased to offer 10 percent off all fillers and Dysport treatments during the month of July.

If you’d like to schedule a Dysport consultation in Springfield, Missouri, call Advanced Laser Clinic at 417-883-5400. We look forward to meeting you!

What Are The Benefits Of Dermal Fillers in Springfield Missouri?

What Are The Benefits of Dermal Fillers?

Aging is a natural process, but that doesn’t mean you have to put up with sunken features or stubborn lines. You may have heard of fillers, which are a popular way to restore facial volume that’s lost due to aging. But what are fillers, anyway?

In a nutshell, dermal fillers in Springfield Missouri are designed to plump the skin by mimicking your body’s naturally occurring hyaluronic acid. At Advanced Laser Clinic, we’ve had stellar results with a filler called Restylane. Read on to find out if you’re a good candidate.

What Do Fillers Do?

Fillers like Restylane (our personal favorite) essentially mimic the presence of naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid in your skin. Hyaluronic acid acts as a natural moisturizer and lubricant for your skin, contributing to that baby-soft, youthful feel that we crave.

As you may have guessed, our bodies decrease hyaluronic acid production as we age. Restylane picks up the slack, filling in facial wrinkles and folds, augmenting lips and increasing overall collagen production for a long-lasting youthful effect.

What Can I Expect During a Restylane Treatment?

Restylane is a clear gel that we inject into the skin with a tiny, nearly imperceptible needle. In fact, most of our clients don’t feel much pain at all beyond a few little pricks. The filler is then injected directly into wrinkles and folds, lifting up and smoothing out the affected areas. Restylane is one of our “lunch hour” procedures, meaning you can get in and out of the office in about 30 minutes.

Does Restylane Require Serious Downtime?

No! The procedure produces immediate results and requires very little downtime. After treatment, you may experience slight redness, swelling, tenderness or itching in the treated area. This usually passes after a few days. If you’ve opted for a lip treatment, you may experience a bit more swelling in the lip region for up to a week. Otherwise, just make sure to keep the area out of direct sun and contact us if you experience any negative side effects.

How Long Does Restylane Last?

Restylane is a long-lasting treatment, but the effectiveness of the procedure depends on the structure of your skin, as well as your lifestyle and age. For longer-lasting effects, many clients choose to have additional facial treatments within a year and additional lip treatments within about six months. The good news: The more treatments you have, the more pronounced the benefits will be, as each treatment helps your body produce more collagen and elastin.

Am I a Good Candidate for Fillers?

Fillers like Restylane can have a fantastic effect on wrinkles and folds in the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows), the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of the mouth) and the lips. If you’re ready to address signs of aging in these areas, the treatment may be a good option for you.

However, there are several factors that may hold you back from receiving filler treatments:

  • If you’ve recently had another facial treatment, you need to wait until the skin has completely healed and returned to normal – usually about four to six weeks.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you cannot receive filler treatments.
  • If you have a history of oral herpes, you must pre-treat with an antiviral three days before your scheduled visit.
  • If you have very superficial or very deep wrinkles, fillers may not have a noticeable effect.

Curious about fillers? Now is a great time to get started: We’re pleased to offer 10 percent off all fillers and Dysport treatments during the month of July. If you’d like to schedule an anti-aging consultation in Springfield, Missouri, call Advanced Laser Clinic at 417-883-5400. We look forward to meeting you.

Avoid Aggressive Treatments This Summer – IPL in Springfield Missouri

Avoid Aggressive Treatments this Summer - IPL in Springfield Missouri

Avoid Aggressive Treatments This Summer

We’re big believers that skincare goes far beyond cleansing and the occasional facial. At Advanced Laser Clinic, we offer a variety of treatments – laser treatments and Intense Pulsed Light Photofacials to name a few – that penetrate the skin much more deeply than a traditional facial. While these treatments offer major results, they also often require some downtime, leaving your skin vulnerable as it recovers. We firmly believe in the power of these laser treatments and IPL in Springfield Missouri; however, we also know that letting your skin rest and recover is incredibly important. Finding time to recover can be especially challenging in the summer months when we’re often booked solid with hiking trips and days at the beach. Still, that doesn’t mean you have to give up on your skincare regimen during the summer months. Read on to find out why you should avoid aggressive skincare treatments this summer and discover less invasive alternatives.

What Qualifies as an “Aggressive” Treatment?

At Advanced Laser Clinic, our experts offer a variety of medical-grade skin care treatments. These include things like the Intense Pulsed Light Photofacial (IPL) and ResurFX, our fractional laser treatments. Both of these treatments require up two weeks without sun exposure – both before and after the treatment. That’s a full month of no sun exposure, which can be hard to accomplish in the summer months. Treatments like microneedling also require a full week pre- and post-treatment with no sun exposure. Why, you ask? Any of these more aggressive treatments compromise your skin’s protective layer, leaving the skin vulnerable and more susceptible to UV damage immediately post-treatment. We know this might put a dent in our clients’ summer plans, so we typically don’t perform these treatments during the summer months.

What Factors Can Irritate Skin After Aggressive Treatments?

You already know that summer means more UV exposure, which means it’s time to up your sunscreen application. However, your skin is even more susceptible to UV damage after more invasive skin treatments like laser or IPL. That makes the chances of scarring or spotting from sun exposure much greater. Heat and humidity can also aggravate your skin while it’s healing from more invasive treatments. Then, of course, there are the harsher elements of summer fun – like chlorine or pool cleaning chemicals, germy lake water and salt water from the ocean. Any of these factors can hinder your skin’s recovery after serious treatments.

My Skin Needs a Pick-Me-Up – What Should I Do?

Just because you should avoid more intense skincare treatments this summer doesn’t mean you have to forgo your skincare routine. In fact, summer can be a great time to go easy on the makeup, so you want to keep your skin looking great. Try a routine facial, light peel or light microdermabrasion treatment to slough off dead skin and get you glowing before that big pool party or summer event. Minimally invasive treatments are a great way to up your summer glow without worrying about missing out on any outdoor fun. Just make sure you use a sunscreen to protect your results.

Don’t spend your summer hiding indoors after getting an aggressive treatment. Take this summer as an opportunity to give your skin a break from invasive treatments like laser therapy or IPL. Instead, switch to routine facials and microdermabrasion in Springfield Missouri to keep your skin looking great in the midst of summer fun.

If you still have questions about your summer skincare regimen, call Advanced Laser Clinic at 417-883-5400 to schedule a consultation. Our experts are your partners in ongoing skincare, helping you look and feel your best in the middle of life’s hustle and bustle. We look forward to meeting you!
