Save On Our Christmas Specials For Micro-Needling

The new year is almost here, and we think that’s a perfect excuse to treat yourself to a rejuvenating procedure at Advanced Laser Clinic. During our third and final week of Christmas Specials, we’re discounting several procedures including micro-needling in Springfield Missouri to help you undo signs of aging, discoloration, acne and more so you can greet the new year with a fresh new look.

$100 Off Microneedling Services (PRP included)

Micro-needling is a non-invasive way to reduce a host of facial woes including acne scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. It’s also great for lifting and tightening skin and minimizing pore size. Microneedling works by simply kick-starting your body’s natural healing abilities. The treatment involves a tool called Rejuvapen which creates tiny, nearly invisible pricks on your skin. Your body then rushes collagen and elastin to the area as a natural defense mechanism for results that are truly impressive. We do recommend scheduling this procedure a day or two out of any important holiday gatherings to give yourself maximum healing time.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Microneedling Services

Take your micro-needling experience to the next level with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Rejuvenation services. PRP erases signs of aging by utilizing your own natural platelets to instruct the body to create new collagen. PRP solutions can be introduced through injections or by using the Rejuvapen used for micro-needling. For this procedure, our experienced staff will draw a small vial of blood from your arm.

After the blood is drawn, the red blood cells are separated from the plasma, concentrating the platelet count. Then, we activate the platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and inject it into the skin or apply it topically. The activated plasma causes healing platelets to rush in, releasing growth factors and stimulating collagen creation. This is another one that we recommend booking a few days out of important events or photo ops, as your skin will appear slightly inflamed for a short period after the procedure.

$49.95 Microdermabrasion Treatments (Limit 3 at Discounted Price)

Microdermabrasion is another non-chemical, non-invasive “lunch hour” procedure that uses a spray of microcrystals to remove the skin’s outermost layer of dry, dead skin cells. This easy procedure takes only 30 to 60 minutes with practically immediate results. During a treatment, our clinician directs a stream of tiny aluminum oxide crystals against the skin, offering excellent exfoliation.

Our microdermabrasion system is most effective when you receive multiple treatments at intervals of two to three weeks. This treatment is a good choice for minor cosmetic concerns including acne and light acne scars, but it might not be the best choice for deeper facial folds or severe scarring. Just one session can improve your skin’s color, tone, and health. Read more about microdermabrasion here.

Ready to book one of these non-invasive procedures that can take years off your face? Give us a call at 417-883-5400 to book your service. Not interested in a service for yourself? Take 10% off all gift certificate purchases. Cannot be combined with other offers.

What are you waiting for? New Year. New Skin. New You!

Invest In A Medical Grade Skin Care Regimen – Skin Rejuvenation in Springfield Missouri

Invest In A Medical Grade Skin Care Regimen - Skin Rejuvenation in Springfield Missouri

Invest In A Medical Grade Skin Care Regimen

Many people understand that the true value of proper skin care can no longer be considered a luxury, but a necessity. A consistent regimen can really change your skin, whether you are dealing with acne, hyper-pigmentation, or aging.  Advancements in skin rejuvenation ingredients and proper education help achieve the best results possible.

You may have heard the terms, “medical grade” and “cosmeceuticals”. The FDA regulates skin care products that include active ingredients that actually affect the skin. Medical grade skin care products are strong enough to reach and treat problems deeper in the skin. The concentration of active ingredients in over the counter (OTC) products is greatly limited. This is to avoid people harming their skin with the wrong ingredients. This is where education and product knowledge come into play. A skin care expert can recommend the appropriate products for your exact concerns.

There is usually a substantial price difference between these products. A higher price point is seen in products that have more effective active ingredients at a higher concentration. Along with a more effective product at a higher price is the need to use less. This can help balance the cost to use ratio.

Committing to a medical grade skin care regimen will change the way you see healthy skin.

At Advanced Laser Clinic, we carry Medical Grade skin care products. In December, stock up on your products that you already use or come in for a FREE consultation to find the right products for you. We are committed to you and your skin care needs so with our training and education we can customize a regimen for you.

Dysport and fillers will be 15% off. Coupon expires March 31st, 2018. If you want in before Christmas, Dr. Talley has appointment times available Dec. 7th, Dec. 14th and Dec. 19th.

If you are looking into your options for beauty procedures that help you look much younger, chances are you are considering dermal fillers, as well as Dysport. While they are both delivered to the skin as injections, dermal fillers are generally used to plump up the skin while Dysport is used to reduce facial muscle activity in a way that reduces the appearance of certain wrinkles.

Because they serve different purposes, fillers and Dysport are often used together for the most dramatic results. When deciding which beauty procedure is right for you, it’s always a good idea to sit down for a skin consultation. We will evaluate your skin and beauty goals and help come up with the best plan. At Advanced Laser Clinic, we offer a variety of non-surgical beauty procedures, and are happy to come up with a customized treatment plan that matches your goals and budget.

Which Chemical Peel Is Right For You – Exfoliation Springfield MO

Which Chemical Peel Is Right For You - Exfoliation Springfield MO

Which Chemical Peel Is Right For You?

The fall season is here, which means holiday events are right around the corner. Many of us could benefit from one of our exfoliation procedures followed by an exfoliating at-home skincare regimen. Need help figuring out which chemical peel is right for you? We're here to help.

Chemical peels are wonderful alternatives to laser peels, which can be costly. Medium depth peels are one of our favorites because they are a quick way to remove dead skin cells, fine lines, small scars, freckles, dark spots and/or skin imperfections caused by aging, hormones and the sun. They are controlled treatments to your face, neck and/or chest, and can be performed safely by our medical estheticians.

Chemical peels are very effective in renewing your skin’s texture. Also, because peels slough off those unwanted dead skin cells, and force brand new fresh skin to the surface, it gives you the appearance of tighter, brighter skin and smaller pores.

There are different grades or depths of chemical peels, and it really depends on your skin color, texture, level of skin imperfections and elasticity to determine what chemical acid solution works best for you. In addition, our estheticians will determine if you need a stronger or lighter solution within each grade of the chemical peel.

Superficial peels are more surface level, and they help with rough/dry skin and texture. This peel can also be mixed with skin bleaching agents to lessen dark spots or skin discoloration due to sun damage, hormones and aging. Glycolic peels take about 10 minutes, and you basically end up with what looks like a mild sunburn. The skin will be red, dry and you will likely experience some flaking a few days after the treatment. After this “lunchtime” peel you can go about your normal life without any real downtime.

Medium depth peels are used to treat fine lines, surface level acne and deeper discoloration and skin imperfections. The Perfect Derma Peel peel takes about 15 minutes, and for darker skin, you may need two or more treatments spaced out over several months. After having this procedure, you can expect mild swelling, redness, crusting/scabbing and peeling. The downtime can be anywhere from 5-10 days depending on how quickly your face heals.

When considering the best treatment plan for your skin we recommend making an appointment for a skincare consultation with us. Even if you are a current client and have been treated in the past, we understand that you might be ready for a new procedure or are needing to tailor your at home skincare routine and we are always happy to help.

Be sure to take advantage of our Fall Exfoliation Special. With any exfoliating treatment, receive 20% off one at home skincare product or 15% off any at home skincare kit.

Call us at (417) 883-5400 to make a consultation appointment and do something today that your future self will thank you for.

Fall Exfoliation Special – Chemical Peel Springfield MO

Fall Exfoliation Special - Chemical Peels Springfield MO

Fall Exfoliation Special

The fall season is here, which means holiday events are right around the corner. Now is the time to get started to make sure you'll look your best. Many of us spent time in the sun this summer and have been left with uneven skin tone and texture and could benefit from one of our exfoliation procedures followed by an exfoliating at-home skincare regimen.

One of our favorite procedures to achieve smoother, clearer and healthier skin is The Perfect Derma Peel.

The Perfect Derma Peel is a medium depth chemical peel that produces visible results with each treatment. This peel is applied in our office and followed at home with retinol peel pads applied for the following two days by the patient. We normally see great improvements with one peel but additional peels can be done over time if needed.

Another popular procedure to refresh your skin for fall and winter is CIT (Collagen Induction Therapy) done with Rejuvapen Microneedling. Microneedling can be combined with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) or a light chemical peel.

This procedure has many benefits including new collagen production, reduction of photodamage and PIH (Post Inflammatory Hyper-pigmentation) as well as softening acne scars and fine lines and wrinkles.

These procedures have a few days of redness and peeling that might need a bit of prior planning in your schedule. If you need more of a “lunchtime” procedure that allows you to achieve more gradual results but doesn’t require any downtime, we also provide light chemical peels, including Obagi’s Blue Radiance peel and Skin Ceuticals Glycolic or salicylic peel.

Microdermabrasion treatments are also a great way to gradually achieve a deep exfoliation. This procedure uses micro-crystals to lightly abrade the top layers of the skin. Microdermabrasion can also be followed by a light chemical peel if deeper results are desired.

With clinical strength at-home use products that target hyper-pigmentation and texture as well as hydration and protection, we are sure to have a treatment plan that fits your skincare needs. At-home care is essential in achieving and continuing results.

When considering the best treatment plan for your skin we recommend making an appointment for a skincare consultation with us. Even if you are a current client and have been treated in the past, we understand that you might be ready for a new procedure or are needing to tailor your at-home skincare routine and we are always happy to help.

Be sure to take advantage of our Fall Exfoliation Special. With any exfoliating treatment, receive 20% off one at-home skincare product or 15% off any at home skincare kit.

Call us at (417) 883-5400 to make a consultation appointment and do something today that your future self will thank you for.

The Benefits of Spider Vein Treatment in Springfield Missouri

The Benefits of Spider Vein Treatment in Springfield Missouri

The Benefits of Spider Vein Treatment

Do you find yourself wearing long pants year-round because your unsightly spider veins embarrass you? Spider veins are thin, visible veins that sprawl across the surface of the skin, resembling spider legs or webs. They are typically bluish, red or purple in color and are found mostly on the legs, feet, and face.

Spider veins typically don’t exhibit any symptoms and are often considered a cosmetic issue. If this describes your legs, then spider vein treatment (which is officially referred to as sclerotherapy) can help. It is a simple, inexpensive treatment. Call today and start now.

Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive medical procedure that eliminates spider veins by injecting a special sclerosing solution directly into the vein. The solution irritates the lining of the blood vessel, causing the vein to collapse and become virtually unnoticeable after being absorbed by your body. This treatment is safe, effective and has little to no downtime.

At Advanced Laser Clinic we offer free consultations to make sure that you are a good candidate for sclerotherapy. During your consultation, we will discuss all aspects of before, during and after the treatment. Here a few important things to consider.

The Benefits of Sclerotherapy

Spider vein treatment is safe and effective for all ages. We only use FDA approved medication. Most patients only experience minimal pain and describe the procedure as a slight stinging sensation with mild cramping. There is a very fast recovery time. You can resume normal activity immediately following the procedure. It's a low-cost solution that may even reduce or eliminate any associated aches and pains from your spider veins.

Temporary Side Effects

There are few side effects that may occur at the injection site after your treatment. These include dark lines or spots, swelling and/or redness at the injection site and bruising. With spider vein treatment, your veins usually look worse before they start looking better.

After The Procedure

You can resume normal activities right away, in fact walking and activity are good immediately after treatment. You're encouraged to wear compression hose for 5 to 7 days after your procedure and this will be discussed during your consultation. The compression hose aides in healing. And you'll want to avoid hot baths, hot compresses, whirlpools, saunas and direct sunlight for several weeks.

Keep in mind that your spider veins will always look worse before they begin to look better, but you will begin to notice a difference in just 4 to 6 weeks. At that time we can evaluate if any further treatment if needed.

When you are ready to eliminate those spider veins, contact us at Advanced Laser Clinic for your free consultation and to schedule your treatment time. Don’t spend another summer wearing pants. This is the time of year to get rid of those spider veins forever.

Answering Questions About Laser Hair Removal Springfield Missouri

Answering Questions About Laser Hair Removal Springfield Missouri

Answering Questions About Laser Hair Removal

By now you've probably heard about laser hair removal and might even know someone who's had it done. Our laser technicians have been performing this procedure for over 15 years at Advanced Laser Clinic and we would like to answer your most common questions.

What does "LASER" mean?

It's actually an acronym that stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The term "radiation" is sometimes misinterpreted because the term is also used to describe radioactive materials. The use of the word LASER in this context, however, refers to an energy transfer. Energy moves from one location to another by conductions and cannot alter DNA structure.

How does it work?

Lasers cause localized damage to the hair by selectively heating dark target matter, melanin, in the area that causes hair growth, the follicle, while not heating the rest of the skin. The heat from the laser destroys the root of the follicle, thus preventing its growth.

Are all lasers created equal?

No. In order for laser hair removal to be most effective you MUST use a laser designed specifically for hair removal. Some smaller salons are known to use a form of hair removal done by an IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) or BBL (Broad Band Light).

This is a wonderful machine for other applications, but NOT for laser hair removal. There is not enough energy transferred to the hair follicle to truly destroy that follicle. At Advanced Laser Clinic, we use a Lumenis Lightsheer Duo which is a Diode Laser designed specifically for hair removal.

Can ALL hair colors and skin tones be treated?

No. Laser does not work well on light-colored hair, grey hair, white hair, and sometimes red hair. It also works the best for hair that is coarse. Really fine hair such as vellus hair does not respond to laser as well.

Our Lumenis Lightsheer is made to treat all skin tones, but does not like tanned skin. During consultation, we will encourage you to avoid any sun exposure if possible or to wear plenty of sunscreen. Laser hair removal is most effective on dark hair with lighter skin, so results do vary which we explain in consultation.

How many treatments are needed?

Hair follicles grow in several phases (anagen, telogen, catagen) and laser can only affect the currently active growing hair follicles (anagen phase). The actual number of sessions depends on various parameters, including the area of the body being treated, skin color, coarseness of hair, any hormonal imbalances and age.

Here are the average number of treatments:

- Face: 6-8 treatments every 6-9 weeks
- Body: 6-8 treatments every 10-12 weeks.

At Advanced Laser Clinic, we do a 6 treatment session with an additional year of FREE maintenance treatments if needed. If for some reason, usually due to hormone imbalances, more treatments are needed we have a minimal maintenance fee for future treatments.

Is the process 100% permanent?

Sometimes, but there are several causes for variations in results. We will not mislead you to think that you will NEVER have to shave again. We will tell you that a vast majority of our patients are extremely pleased with their results.

During the consult, we will explain about dormant hair follicles that are NOT affected by the laser and may decide to grow as you age. On average, about 80-90% of your hair will be effected by laser hair removal if it falls into the parameters mentioned above.

What are the most common side-effects and risks?

During treatment: discomfort which is tolerable – feels light a tiny prick on the skin and is warm to hot feeling. We do have topical numbing agents if needed here at the office.

Post treatment (most common): itching, redness, and swelling (perifollicular edema) around the treatment area. These side effects rarely last more than three days.

Unwanted side effects and risks: hypo- or hyper-pigmentation, blistering, scarring, skin texture changes, flare of acne, swelling around the hair follicle, scab formation, purpura, infection and burning of the skin.

Obviously these are very rare but do happen. It is very important that you seek a clinic that has experienced technicians and up to date equipment. Advanced Laser Clinic has been doing hair removal now for 15 years with trained technicians that have been here that whole time. We also have a physician on staff to assist us with any complications that might occur.

What are the contraindications?

Contraindications mean that if you have any of these conditions or are taking any of the medicines listed, you CANNOT be treated. We will talk to you in depth during consultation to see if you are a good candidate for laser hair removal:

- Pregnant (we let the patient talk to their OB/GYN to decide if they should wait or continue)
- Light induced seizures
- Anyone taking photo-sensitive medicines. If so, you'll need to wait 3 weeks once you're finished.
- Accutane (need to be off for 6 months)
- History of skin cancer
- Suspicious pigmented lesions
- Lupus
- Herpes (pre-treat with an antiviral drug such as Valtrex, but if active, cannot be treated until dormant again)

How do I prepare for laser hair removal?

- No waxing, tweezing, or electrolysis for 4 weeks prior.
- If you have fair skin (skin types I -III), no sun exposure for at least 4 weeks.
- If you have darker skin (types IV – VI), no sun for 3-5 days.
- No threading for 10 days
- No self-tanner for 14 days
- Shave the area being treated the same day or the night before

How much does it cost?

Prices vary from clinic to clinic as well as different regions of the US. Price also depends on how large of area we are treating. We have our prices on our website as well as we give them over the phone if you call us.

Our costs range from $49.95 – $399.95 depending on area of the body and face we are treating. We have package pricing which gives you significant discounts as well as VIP referrals and special discounts.

We hear over and over that laser hair removal is "an investment in freedom". If you take into consideration the amount of money we all spend on razors, waxing or the time needed to pluck, it is money well spent.

These are just a few of the questions we are consistently asked about Laser Hair Removal. If you have any other specific questions, please contact our office. We would love to answer your questions and walk you through the steps of this process. Life can be "hairy enough" so why not start today toward a hair-free life?

Skincare Solutions For Teen and Adult Hormonal Acne Springfield MO

Skincare Solutions For Teen and Adult Hormonal Acne Springfield MO

Skincare Solutions For Teen and Adult Hormonal Acne

You survived high school. You sailed through college. Your breakouts were still showing up in your 20’s. But you hit your 30’s and your acne is still flaring up, and you thought you would be done by now.

You’re not alone. Adult acne is more common than you think. But it is different than the acne you had during your teens in several ways. Teenage acne is a hereditary condition, so if either parent suffered from dramatic acne as a teenager, it is likely that their child will as well. It is important for all young children, starting as young as 7 or 8, to learn good skin care habits. The first step in preventing and treating teen and adult hormonal acne is to make the daily activity of cleansing, hydrating and treating the skin a regular part of their daily routine.

The key difference in both types of acne is that teenage age is caused by active oil glands and excess oil production, whereas adult acne is caused by hormonal activity. As we age, cell turnover slows down, so in adults, the oil builds up and causes inflammation, cystic acne and pimples.

Teenage acne tends to show up all over the face, and back, chest and shoulders. Adult acne is more commonly found on the lower face, chin and jaw line.

The way to treat teen acne is also different than the best treatments for adults. For starters, young skin that produces too much oil needs more aggressive treatments to reduce the presence of propionibacterium acnes bacteria and dry up all that oil that causes the areas around nose and cheeks to shine.

Clenziderm Before and After - Skincare Solutions For Teen and Adult Hormonal Acne Springfield MOAdult skin is more fragile, delicate and sensitive, so it tends to dry out more quickly. The best treatments are more gentle and easier to tolerate. In addition, adult women want to be able to wear foundation, so acne therapy needs to allow them to have a smooth surface to apply daily makeup without flaking and peeling.

We get a lot of questions about the best way to manage both issues and we offer several options including customized product lines and treatments to fit each client’s needs. Acne treatment options can include microdermabrasion and chemical peels with follow up at home skincare products. We have experienced overwhelmingly positive results with Obagi’s Clenziderm M.D. System.

This kit is a 3 step morning and evening therapeutic skincare routine followed with a daily sunscreen and a nightly therapeutic moisturizer.

Other options are available to add to these treatments and products so the best place to start is by scheduling a skincare consultation so we can evaluate your specific needs. We know many of you feel like you’ve tried everything out there and have had little success so we strive to work with you to achieve the best results possible.

Call us and book a free consultation and let us get you started on your way to clear, blemish free skin.

Why Should You Choose PRP Therapy – Platelet Rich Plasma Springfield MO

PRP Rejuvenation - Platelet Rich Plasma Springfield MO

Why Should You Choose PRP Therapy

If your skincare goal is to achieve a more youthful, vibrant look through one or more cosmetic treatments, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed with all the choices out there. There are laser treatments to help reverse sun damage and correct pigmentation problems, Dysport to help erase fine lines and wrinkles, skincare products to help protect and repair your skin and laser hair removal to get rid of unwanted hair.

At Advanced Laser Clinic, we do all of these and more but if you are looking for an overall facial makeover or rejuvenation of your skin, your best option is PRP therapy. It will make your skin smoother, improve your skin tone, help with fine lines and wrinkles, and skin sagging. It can also be used to improve acne scarring and hair loss. Read on for more information on how PRP works or you can always call us at Advanced Laser Clinic to set up a FREE consultation to see if this treatment is right for you.

What is PRP Therapy?

PRP, which stands for Platelet Rich Plasma, is a treatment that uses plasma which is a component of your own blood cells to rejuvenate your skin by repairing collagen ad regenerating healthy tissue to produce a more overall youthful look. PRP therapy has been used in the health care field for over 25 years especially in orthopedic surgery and has only recently become popular in the cosmetic setting.

How Does PRP Work?

A small amount of blood is drawn by our RN or physician which then spins in a centrifuge machine. This separates your plasma and platelets from your red and white blood cells. Following this process, the PRP is then drawn up into syringes and injected into the areas you want to be treated such as crows feet, lines around mouth or jawline. We can also use our micro-needling technique with the PRP to give you the overall rejuvenation of your skin. The Micro-needling process is used in conjunction with the PRP by applying the PRP topically to your skin and using our Rejuvepen Micro-needling system. This process is used for full face, neck, and chest.

Why Should You Choose PRP Therapy?

PRP therapy is a natural way to improve the texture and appearance of your skin using your body’s own healing responses. With PRP therapy you do not have to worry about your body rejecting the treatment or experiencing allergic reactions. This treatment also offers a shorter recovery time and little to no pain following your appointment. You may experience tenderness and redness in the treated areas that feel like a slight sunburn. These recovery symptoms will vary from person to person.

How Soon Will You See Results?

Most patients start seeing noticeable results from PRP therapy within a few days of treatment, but the best results can be seen within two to three months. Some areas or deeper lines might require more than one treatment. Results from PRP therapy can last between one to two years depending on the individual’s skin and lifestyle habits. We encourage patients to wear sunscreen, practice good skincare regimen, eat healthily and drink lots of water so you can get the very best out of your PRP treatments.

We would love to sit down with any and all patients here at Advanced Laser Clinic to figure out what treatment or combination of treatments is best for you. We love the results of the PRP therapy and are very excited to offer this treatment at Advanced Laser Clinic.
