Superficial Chemical Peels - Wrinkle Removal Springfield Missouri

Superficial Peels

Superficial Chemical Peels are designed to help smooth coarse, dry skin, improve the texture of sun-damaged skin, and even out the skin tone.  The recovery is generally rapid and usually involves some minor flaking.  Typically there is no down time and with the appropriate skin protection, you can resume regular activities immediately.

SkinCeuticals Micropeel 30 Glycolic Solution

This peel is a 30% glycolic acid at a low pH to help improve the appearance of signs of advanced photo-aging, fine line, dullness and skin imperfections. It is specifically designed to accelerate cell renewal and stimulate collagen synthesis.

Glycolic Chemical Peels

Our glycolic peels are an all natural, sugar cane based peel that are in the lightest category of chemical peels. Known as a “lunchtime procedure,” due to their short duration and rapid recovery time, glycolic chemical peels can be used for superficial wrinkle removal. The glycolic peel used at Advanced Laser Clinic can also be used for dry patches of skin, as well as to treat sun damage and acne scars. Recent research has also indicated that glycolic peels can help patients with acne and rosacea, making the skin more responsive to laser treatments and home care products. Our recommendation when using a glycolic chemical peel is to repeat the peel several times in order to achieve the best possible results.

How Does A Chemical Peel Work?

Glycolic acid targets, loosens and dissolves the strateum corneum and corneocytes leaving the skin with a smooth, moist, refined, and vibrant appearance. The strateum corneum is a glue-like substance that holds the outer layer of our cells together; it is the build-up of the strateum corneum that is responsible for the skin’s rough, dry, scaly appearance and brown age or sun spots. Corneocytes are dead skin cells that block follicles in the skin and cause acne, but once the follicles are clear the glycolic acid works to keep them clear and prevent acne from reoccurring.

What Is The Chemical Peel Process?

You should not have a chemical peel if you have used Accutane in the last year, are on blood thinners, used Retin-A in the last 48 hours, or recently waxed. No Retin-A or harsh exfoliators may be used 48 hours prior to your treatment.

Immediately following your treatment your skin will be glowing. Individuals with sensitive skin may experience slight redness, but it will look like you just got a little sun. You can return your normal routine with no down time.

There is no downtime associated with a glycolic peel. Some dryness, flakiness, and redness should be expected, as the top layer of skin falls away to reveal the smoother, healthier skin beneath.
