Skin Care Treatment with Microdermabrasion in Springfield Missouri

Microdermabrasion

Your skin is constantly exposed to environmental elements, UVA and UVB rays, and the passing of time. Over the years these factors can take a toll on the skin. Microdermabrasion can help boost the look and health of your skin.

When incorporated into a consistent regimen of home care and professional treatments, Microderm can help change stubborn problems like rough texture, dryness, and uneven skin tone.

What Is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a procedure that offers physical exfoliation to the skin. It does this by using a spray of micro crystals to remove the outermost layer of dead and dying skin cells. This encourages your skin to produce new skin cells with a higher concentration of collagen and elastin. You end up revealing more youthful, healthier looking skin. This type of exfoliation also helps improve the absorption of your skin care products making them more effective.

Who is an Ideal Candidate?

Anyone with dull or uneven skin tone, people dealing with texture problems or clogged pores are good candidates. Microdermabrasion can help improve some types of acne and Rosacea. It does this by removing the upper layer of dead skin cells and encouraging cellular turnover.

Microdermabrasion is a good exfoliation technique for regular skin maintenance. It will not reverse aging or remedy sagging skin or correct deep facial wrinkling.

Risks and Benefits

The benefits far outweigh the risks of microdermabrasion. You will be left with exfoliated fresh-looking skin that provides many benefits. This treatment uses no chemicals, so sensitive skin will tolerate Microdermabrasion very well. It can be used on skin of all colors and skin types. It does not present any serious risks when performed by our qualified estheticians.

The risks may be slight skin irritation after treatment, or very rarely an allergic reaction to the products used as with any treatment. Since everyone’s skin and health history differ to some degree, microdermabrasion is considered on a case-by-case basis by our trained staff.

During the Procedure

During treatment, our esthetician directs a fine spray of micro aluminum oxide crystals through a wand used on the skin. These crystals exfoliate the skin and are paired with a light suction created by the machine to remove both the crystals and the dead skin cells being removed.

After the crystals and suction are used the skin is thoroughly cleansed with our Environ triple cleanse process. This completely removes any residue left from the crystals.

Then extractions are performed if necessary. The skin will then be nourished and rehydrated with professional serums and or products that are appropriate for your skin concerns. We always finish with sunscreen.

Is The Procedure Painful?

The Microdermabrasion procedure is not painful and has no downtime. This procedure can cause a slight warming to the skin as blood flow increases and the skin is exfoliated. After a treatment the skin can be a little pink and more sensitive.

This requires a little extra protection. Be mindful with sun and heat exposure. You should be particularly careful about wearing sunscreen. Heavy sweating should be avoided the day of procedure and until any sensitivity is gone.

Applying moisturizing creams to hydrate, calm and protect the skin will also prevent any potential irritation.

Recovery and Results

Microdermabrasion is often called a "lunch time" treatment because it’s a quick procedure that can be performed during your lunch hour with no discomfort or downtime. The treated skin may look slightly pink after the treatment, but this will usually subside within a few hours. You can apply makeup after microderm if you wish to.

The results can be seen immediately after your treatment. Just one session can show improvement in your skin’s color, texture, and health. Your face will have a fresh, dewy appearance and a softer, smoother texture.

Microdermabrasion is a great stand-alone treatment, but the best results are achieved with consistency. Regular skin maintenance can be performed every three to four weeks.
