Summer and its subsequent heat and rays of sunshine are upon us. At Advanced Laser Clinic we always try to be very careful in choosing our clients’ treatments this time of year. UV exposure can very counterproductive to the skin’s health when aggressive treatments such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Photofacials or laser treatments have been used. There are still anti-aging skin treatments that can be used during the summer months and a PRP (platelet rich plasma) injection is one of them. Using plasma injections for regenerating tissues is not a new concept. This therapy has been used to accelerate healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. This science is now being applied to facial anti-aging. This involves a minimal blood draw. The patient’s blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma from the red blood cells. The plasma is then injected into the dermis in areas of concern. The plasma has a concentration of growth factors. It is these growth factors in PRP that help heal the body and tissue. When PRP is injected, the area is bathed in a concentration of growth factors. The growth factors stimulate the skin to produce collagen.

This is a great way to continue your anti-aging journey in the summer months. Injections of platelet rich plasma in Springfield Missouri only disturb the epidermis only where the actual injection site is.
